Ladiez Retreat is a God idea. No man can take the credit. After the horrible earthquake at Haiti in January 2010, the writer made several solo trips to Haiti. On one of those trips, as she sat at a corner in Florida stop over airport, she heard a voice that said, “take my women out for a fasting and prayer retreat”.

On coming back from that Missions trip, she shared the message with her prayer partner Sister Ngozi Okorie. The writer was worried about the fasting part. Women are so busy. They work hard and if they are going to a conference, it should be a place to let down their hair, eat and laugh. Who will even come, she reasoned?

A year later Minister Kenny Uko gave a pastor’s appreciation gift to his Pastor. The package was three nights at Sandy Cove. This will be the first time of even hearing the name Sandy Cove. On stepping onto the ground, the Lord confirmed the venue for the assignment.

Being the President of the women’s wing of the Nigeria Assemblies of God Fellowship, I called my assistant Evangelist Joy Osueke, informing her about how strongly I felt led to make a reservation for a conference that we have not shared with anyone. She gave her support which meant the whole world to me.

Sandy Cove has never had a group fast on their ground. We negotiated so hard to bring down the price since we would be skipping some meals. The first reservation in 2011 was for 50 women. Since then we have seen as many as 200 women attend in a year. God has blessed our socks off!
